Implementation science aims to accelerate translation of scientific knowledge into practice.

Dissemination (D) is the targeted distribution of information and intervention materials to a specific public health or clinical practice audience. The intent is to spread knowledge.
Implementation (I) is the use of strategies to adopt and integrate evidence-based health interventions and change practice patterns within specific settings. The intent is to promote adoption by an individual, organization or community to commit to, initiate, and sustain use of health intervention and/or practice.
